I won! I am now the official BPW Young Careerist for New York! Alas, I can not go to the national competition, as I will be in California for Z's wedding. But still, I am pretty proud of myself!
I took a break from barfing and groaning on the couch all weekend and escorted my better half to the annual Two Fly Dinner, where we did not win the raffle, nor the fifty/fifty, nor the actual competition (but that's because we did not enter.)
The two fly draws a strange class of fly anglers...those who are competitive about it and those who do it for a living. To me, competitive fly fishing makes about as much sense as competition yoga. I know I am not alone in the school of anglers who engage in the sport as a form of relaxation and, dare I say it, meditative practice.
But inspite of those feelings, I intend to compete next year becuae the mateur women's field is really, really small and you win a really, really nice new rod.
What's that noise? Not my car, friend! I finally had a new muffler put on. Now I can hear all the other funny noises Trixie is making!
Last night I went home and planted lettuce and nasturtiums. I was going to add pees, but decided to just go eat some mac n cheese instead.

Trillium in the marsh.
Today I bought a lawn mower. I finally had my way and convinced Bill that we don't need some insane tractor for the Bunkhouse lawn. (the camp is another story) So I got to buy one of those cool reel mowers. No gas, no noise. Just pure Martha power. Can't wait too mow. Unless, of course, the rain keeps up and the lawn gets to high to tackle with the push mower. In whcih case we'll have to hire our Groundskeeper (hehe) one last time.
I just feel so virtuous!
I hate to gamble. Because I suck at it.
I should have bought airplane tickets to Z's July wedding last week, when I saw them for $237 a piece. Now the lowest I can get is $319.
Please advise, oh internet...should I wait for them to go back down? or buy now?
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.
