The day started at 3am with the worst cramps I have ever had. Then my pants didn't fit.

Even if I won the lottery today, I'd still be a little grumpy. Except it is Spring.

Really and truly. Not that we won't get more snow. I am pretty sure we still will, but at least the rivers are opening up. Good things, too, considering tomorrow is day number one of trout fishing.

It is nothing but mud out there. Our driveway and the strip of "lawn" in front of our house is a sticky brown goo that I am sure includes a fair quantity of dog shit.

We are considering getting a load of gravel to throw down, but right now the $200 dollars that would take is seeming a little daunting. Soon though fishing season starts and I will no longer be the sole crust winner. (I don't make enough to call it bread.)

The house next door to us is in the process of being renovated. If by renovated you mean gutted and exploded all over the lawn. Our friend Tom is doing the work. His wife's real estate company bought the place from the degenerate daughters of the late owners. Even the explosion of wood and nails is better than what we USED to see over there. But last night, the son of one of those daughters (he's just been released from jail, awaiting trail for assault) pulled up into the driveway.

I guess they just don't understand that they don't own it anymore.

So Bill went outside and stared at them until they left.

A true sign of spring-our wacky neighbors come out of hiding.

This weekend was weekend two of the Great Adirondack Room Move.

We switched Bill's dirty dusty fly-tying room with our bedroom, so we can now get in and out of bed on seperate sides, like real grown-ups do. We also have art placed around the bedroom, in places that makes sense. This is genius.

I am feeling angry and frustrated with all the people around me who keep getting pregnant without really tring. It's hard to remember that it doesn't mean we're not going to be able to do this, just that maybe it's not oiur time yet. But I want it to be my time, damnit....and I am pissed that I missed my last chance at a 2005 tax reduction.

I'm a winner. You are reading the blog of the local Business and Professional Women's Club Young Careerist of 2005.

WOOOOOOOOOO!

I will be taking my speechifying to the NEXT level. Where I have no competition. And then onward! to the state. Where's Waterloo?

It was all great, until a accidentally jammed a really pointy part of my plaque into my cuticle and began to bleed profusely.

This weekend I created my own little space in the house...

I no longer share a dirty dusty feather filled room with my fly-tying husband!

These goddamn girl scouts will be the death of me, with their cookies!

Two words: diabetic. coma.

Last night we had a Board meeting here at work and the mayor of our city by the lake gave a nice presentation.

He's a man who is going places, for sure, if some folks have their way. Turns out that Republicans can love the gay, if the gay goes with economic growth. He is a very funny and candid man, who in the course of his talk touched on his history of drug addiction, showed us his bling, and made fun of his own Rhode Island accent. Plus, he's with us. Which is very rare for a politician in these parts.

Bill is off to Long Island for a few days, to retake his Captain's license exam, so I am HOME ALONE!

I always think that it will be super fun, and productive for me, but in the end, I don't do much and wind up missing him.

I need to get cracking on my wedding present creating, as Bill and I both have cousins getting hitched this summer and fall. Then there's the wedding of the year, Zoe and Jesse, in California in July. Which will be the best, I am sure.

I also have the big project of moving all my crap that's in the room we share for crap downstair into my own room for crap upstairs. And by room for crap, I mean my own personal crafting, writing and storage space. MY OWN SPACE!!!!! Suddenly I am feeling a whole lot more motivated to actually get off my butt this weekend.

The fight for Medicaid is now!

Starting today, the House and Senate will begin debate on budget resolutions that could cut up to $20 billion in the Medicaid program and force changes in the program which could end vital health care services to women and families. Family planning is just one part of critical women's health care that could be lost.

Our only hope at stopping these brutal cuts is an amendment to be offered by Senators Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) which would eliminate the Senate Medicaid cuts. The Smith-Bingaman amendment must pass when voted on later this week.

Please call your Senators with this message: "Please support the Smith-Bingaman amendment to strike cuts to Medicaid."

Families USA has set up a 1-800 number for calls to Senate offices that can be used by anyone. The call will go directly to the Capitol switchboard. You will then need to ask for your Senator. Here’s the number: 1-800-828-0498.

Please call, and then urge your friends and family to call!
This weekend, Bill and I performed a rite of Spring. We went bird watching.

We drove up to Massena, a first for me, and went to a state park there, which is also home to two major dams on the St. Lawrence. Because of those damns, and the many AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY signs scattered throughout the park, I kept feeling like we were about to get in trouble with our driving down inplowed road and wielding of binoculars.

It paid off, though, with the sightings of two bald eagles in one tree, a rough legged hawk, and a Northern shrike. We were after owls, but I think the rest of the bird made up for the fact we did not see any.

And now, say it with me, I am a big dork.

I made up for it, though, with my sassy new glasses which look arty and nerdy and cool all at the same time. And with my Sunday activity, which was a sex toy party at a co-workers. So fun. So expensive. But my parents read this, so that's all I'll say.

But to REALLY gross you all out, I will just mention the VERY fertile cervical mucus I have been having.

It's a wonder I made it around town without crashing myself or my car into things, because my prescription was WAY off. But after 4:30 today, I shall have cutie new glasses (and one new pair of contacts too.) All for $78!

I rule!

Just yesterday I realized that reason I am so headachy and squinty and grumpy is that I can not see.

No wonder! I knew that my glasses were not stong enough, since I have had that prescription for TEN years! TEN! But I figured my contacts were pretty good. No longer.

So I made a major step. I made an appointment to get my eyes checked and to get NEW GLASSES!!!!!! (And a new prescription for lenses, if I need it.) I have had the same frames since 1994. It is time.

Did I just eat half a pound of carrots?

Oh yes I did.
If I don't get drool on you, he will.
